It may be presumed that Sir S. Bowen has satisfied himself that the duties of the Assistant Supt of the Fire Brigade will not interfere with Mr. Horspool's Police duties, in which he will for the future be relieved (I suppose) by the new appointment of Military Assistant.
It seems that there is not to be a separate 2nd Assistant Superintendent. (Ref 9039) but the duties will be performed by Mr. Leigh, the Engineer. We ought to thank the Governor for the word "approve", which seems to dispute about the "confirmation" of Mr. Horspool, but he overlooks the fact that he first introduced the
